Restrict the Three-Language Formula to Grade VIII in CBSE-affiliated schools.

The Three-Language Formula, which required students to opt for a third language in middle school, i.e. Grades VI-VIII, has been recently planned to be introduced for the Grades IX and X, which means two more years have been added to it.

According to the new regulations, it is mandatory for the third language to be Indian, i.e. one of the 22 languages which have been mentioned in Article 8 of the Constitution of India. Along with this, board examinations have also been introduced for IX and X grade by the CBSE. Moreover, in case students wish to study a foreign language, they will be made to feel the effect of this decision.

The new regulations would only pressurise students who wish to take up a foreign language in secondary and senior secondary school. This petition takes into consideration the best interests of the concerned students and calls on the recipients of this petition to do away with the recently announced regulations and continue with the language system that has been in effect since the last five years.
