Pavan Mulpur started this petition to Supreme Court of India (Supreme Court of India) and

With the recent imbroglio in Karnataka in July 2019 where 17 MLAs who resigned to bring down the the ruling JD(s) Congress coalition government, there was a huge loss to to government in terms of time and money. Assembly sessions were not held and those that were held were only to prove the survival of the government.

With this petition I want to propose that whenever in future if MLAs resign en masse with the intention to bring down the government, they should be penalized heavily. Because such a situation causes heavy drain on the government exchequer leading to mid term elections. Those MLAs who resign should be barred from constituting an election for at least 2 terms and with a penalty of at least Rs. 5 crores. The cost of holding a mid term election for the MLAs constituency should be recovered from the MLA. Why should our tax money be spent towards holding a mid term election for an MLA who resigned to jump to another party to make more money? This money should be recovered from the MLA. Please sign my petition to make this into a law across India.
