National condolence for Dr. Priyanka by flowing Indian National Flag at half mast for 1day
Why this petition matters
We are the common Indian public and Dr.Priyanka was one of us, but now she is no more. Lack of social safety, lack of general civil protection and lack of respect and empathy towards women in Indian society have taken her life in the most brutal way. I am a common Indian lady and I am still alive. But when I open the newspaper in the morning, when I start from my house for my workplace, when I come back in the evening or when I go to bed at night for a good night's sleep, the same horrific question comes in my mind too; "AM I NEXT?" Because I know that I am just a common civilian and I am not a political leader, I am not a VIP, I am not a celebrity. I don't have armed guards, police protection or bouncers.
But I pay taxes regularly, I don't break law and order, I take part in the electoral system in our country by casting my vote at the time of general elections. But, then, what is the value of my life? What is the value of life of lakhs and lakhs of girls and women like me in India who do all their civic duties just like me without fail in spite of numerous struggles and roadblocks in their lives? What is our fault? That we are not celebrities, dignitaries, political leaders, VVIPs?
We feel horror stricken, frantic, paralyzed with fear; we shake like a leaf, when we think about the kind of pain, harassment and brutality Nirbhaya was subject to, in a running bus in our national capital, DELHI. Still our nation did not have a national condolence unitedly, to show respect, love and empathy to her and sympathy to her terror and trauma struck, mourned-beyond-consolation, ill-fated family. And now again Dr. Priyanka and her family were subject to same kind of hellish pain, brutality and horror.
So at least this time we, all Indians, should unitedly cry for the departed soul, now we should share the pain of her bereaved family, we should show some respect and posthumous empathy to the deceased doctor who might had a bright future and last but not the least to the numerous girls of this ill-fated nation, by flowing our national flag at half mast in Delhi and capitals of all states and UTs, so that such heinous crimes against women are condemned officially, publicly and from the highest level of our Government.
