Petition to the Supreme Court of India: Various god-men and their connected ashrams and institutions take advantage of peoples' gullible nature and have been committing heinous crimes such as rape and murder. Political parties have given them numerous funds during election campaigns to turn the tide in their favour.
A recent case is that of Baba Ram Raheem and his group causing rampant damage in New Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh.
Such unscrupulous institutions and god-men should be banned from functioning by the Supreme Court bringing about an amendment to the Constitution as our Constitution guarantees freedom of religion. These are not religions but eyewash institutions run by con-men and gaining popularity amongst the uneducated and unemployed for personal gains. They can be banned and controlled by bringing them under the umbrella of the Anti Superstition and Black Magic Act.
