On May 27, the 15-year-old elephant had wandered into a village in Malappuram district in search of food. When the pregnant elephant was walking on the streets, unidentified people fed a pineapple stuffed with crackers. When the crackers exploded inside the elephant's mouth, it started running across the village and reached the Velliyar River. Even as the elephant writhed in pain after the explosion, it did not cause any harm to the villagers. The elephant stood in the river as the forest department made failed attempts to rescue it. The elephant died of asphyxia while the rescue operation was being carried out.
As a result we want justice for the Elephant.
