Abolish Atrocity Act in India

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

Every year in India 75%  ( Approx 101.2 crore ) people from General, OBC, NT,VJ,SBC  are at risk to face criminal charges because of draconian  Atrocity Act- 1989,  which was introduced to safeguard SC & ST category people. This act has been widely misused and as a result hundreds and thousands of people are subject to false criminal proceedings and suffer huge financial physical and mental harassment.

Dalit community have used the law to settle personal, political scores against the rivals by falsely accusing the other category members

The Atrocities Act provides more tooth to the police complaint of a member of SC/ST community rather than a complainant from the open category.

A complaint registered under SC/ST Atrocities Act against any individual is a non-bailable in nature due to which one has to face police trials & investigations and spend considerable amount of time (Usually two weeks to few months)  in police custody (Jail)

As per the data published in 2014 by NCRB  ( National Crime Records Bureau ) , 74% of such cases are found to be false , these cases are generally registered with the intention to settle personal, political scores against the General , OBC, NT,VJ & SBC Categories.

But before these 75% cases are dismissed, a large part of the population has to spend time in Jail , face police torture  &  suffer social embarrassment  with financial losses

As per section 18 of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act , one cannot be granted any anticipatory bail, and one has to spend time in jail, even if a complaint is registered on false ground . This is similar to act of terrorism or Anti National activities.

No political party has ever taken any interest to abolish this act because of the vote bank politics and vested interest

In Short 75% of Indian population is at the mercy of 25%  , who have already benefited tremendously due to social reforms initiated by governments from time to time.

What can we do  :

By signing this petition we request you to take a pledge and “NOT TO VOTE FOR ANY POLITICAL PARTIES” till the time this law is completely abolish or scrapped.
