We created this petition to ensure that transgender and gender non-conforming students, along with ALL students at Linn-Mar are safe, comfortable, and treated with respect and dignity, and to encourage the school board to vote to approve the two related policies at its April 25 meeting. On April 11, 2022, the Linn-Mar School Board voted 5-2 for the first reading of the new policies 504.13 and 504.13-R. 

• These policies allow ALL students to feel comfortable at school.
• These policies allow ALL students, regardless of how they identify, to request a meeting with school staff to receive support from the school. 
• These policies allow ALL students to work with staff and family (if desired) to create a plan that helps them succeed at school.
• These policies allow ALL students to advocate for themselves, by giving them autonomy to be the human beings they were born to be. 
   

Help us support Linn-Mar students! These policies elaborate on existing State law (the Iowa Civil Rights Act -- Iowa Code 216.9) and provide respect, dignity, and civil and human rights for all students. The specific policies are available to read at https://bit.ly/LMPolicies (pages 8-13). 

On April 25th, the school board will vote on these policies. Please sign this petition so it can be presented to the board showing how many people support the rights and dignity of ALL students.
