The Weedsport Central School district is planning a cut to our music program by reducing the choral director position for the 2022-2023 school year from full-time to part-time.

Our goal with this petition is to show the school board and the administration that with the support of the community, we strongly request that this be filled as a full-time position. We all want to increase the number of students involved in music in our school. We're asking the school to focus on making this program a priority.

We're more likely to retain the students' excitement in participating if they are given opportunities such as Jazz Band, NYSSMA and All-County festivals. The numbers of younger students enrolling is growing already. Now is the time to invest in the program rather than leave educators spread too thin and lose student interest.
