Support Water Reservoir in Alakaapoor Township
Around 20,000 people in Alkapur Township in Manikonda municipality are facing hardships due to scarcity of water since more than a decade. Ever since the township came into existence water crisis remained a major issue as the place it is yet to get basic water supply infrastructures such as water pipelines. Currently, the residents are paying Rs 500 - 850 per tanker and in Summer it rises to 1000+/-.
Angry residents of Alkapur township in Manikonda took out a rally in October 2019, demanding safe drinking water. The township, close to other developed areas such as financial district, lags behind in infrastructure, with locals claiming that they are struggling even for drinking water.
Starting 2021 local Municipal and HMWSSB have started to lay distribution lines in the township. However, there were irregular supplies due to lack of reservoirs for water storage.
State Government have announced ORR Phase-II drinking water supply project of 1200 cr to lay 2855 km lines and 75 Reservoirs of 135 MLD reviewed and by March 31, 2022 535 km lines will be laid in Priority 1 to benefit 272 Colonies around city within ORR and Manikonda is part of the Priority 1 (Phase 2) Project.
Hereby we are appealing all Alkapoor Township and Manikonda residents to support the construction of 2.5 ML Overhead Reservoir in Alakaapoor township park/open land in road 4 (west to Scholars Academy).
