Over the last two decades, we have made major strides in the fight to end polio – reducing cases worldwide by 99%. Polio is now endemic in just three countries – Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan. But we need your help to finish the last mile in the race to end the disease. Until eradicated, polio anywhere is a threat to children everywhere.
Here is the truth. You don’t have to be a world leader to make a difference. You can be a champion in the global effort to eradicate polio by telling your elected officials to help.
Tell your Member of Congress that NO CHILD should be crippled by an easily preventable disease like polio. The United States has been a long time partner of the global effort to end this disease and we need to continue the momentum to make polio history.
As your constituent, I hope you too can join us in the fight to save lives through providing vaccines and immunizations. Please support full funding for critical programs like the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and make our vaccination programs a priority within the U.S. foreign aid budget.
Despite significant progress, one in five children still lack access to life-saving immunizations, putting them at risk for preventable diseases and death. The impact of immunization is powerful. With continued support from Congress, we can help save the life of a child every 20 seconds by providing vaccines to children in developing countries.
I believe that every child deserves a shot at a healthy life, and that access to vaccines can give them that chance. I recognize that there are a lot of priorities competing for the attention of Congress; however, I believe this is a particularly important cause, and I ask you to lend your support.
