Why this petition matters

White City was selected to receive $1,250,000 for a pavement restoration project through the Kansas Department of Transporation (KDOT) for the 2025 City Connecting Link Improvement Program (CCLIP).  Mackenzie Street is Kansas Highway 4, which is a State Highway System. The award will pay for the removal of bricks on K-4 from Grand Street to Main Street in White City. The road will be reconstructed with concrete pavement and will include curb and gutter to resolve ponding issues. The grant will also replace driveway entrances, and provide ADA ramps at intersections. The bricks, which were installed in the fall of 1922 are now in disrepair. The water ponds all along the street and freezes in the winter, making it slick and dangerous as people are trying to go into the local businesses. In 1922, we did not have the large truck traffic that we have today.  I am hoping that you will sign my petition to support this project so that we do not lose this opportunity to have the street repaired at no cost to the city and move toward the future.
