Camille Robinson started this petition to City of Seattle

The #saytheirnamesmemorial recognizes 186 Black lives wrongfully taken by police brutality, injustice and racism. Please help us spread awareness to honor those lives taken too soon. The memorial is intended to be a "living memorial" and is open to people adding names, photos and flowers to remember those not represented here.

The #saytheirnamesmemorial is part of the Black Lives Matter movement, and was  started by Joy Proctor, a designer in the Portland, OR area. She encouraged others who would like to put up a memorial in their city, to contact her for more information. So, we did.

As we were putting up the memorial along Harbor Avenue in West Seattle, we were approached by a few people who questioned it and asked when it would be taken down. This memorial is important. It sparks uncomfortable conversations that need to be had. It allows us to understand the just how many innocent men, women, and children had their lives wrongfully taken.

While we understand this is currently a temporary installation, and there are literally thousands of more names that could be added, we urge those who are in favor of keeping it up to sign this petition. We would like to show the overwhelming support we have from our own community that a more permanent installation would be welcome in our city.
