I Support the RISE Act - Students with Disabilities should no longer have to pay for additional documentation to re-prove disability still exists once they enter college in order to access accommodations they may need.

We request all members of Congress to sign on in support and Pass these two bills!

The Respond, Innovate, Succeed, and Empower (RISE) Act Senate S.1585 - RISE Act of 2019 and it’s companion bill House H.R.3086 - Respond, Innovate, Succeed, and Empower Act of 2019 - will amend the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), addressing three issues in a sensible cost effective manner:

  • Information: Provides parents and students with information on disability services in one place, making it easier to know what services are available in higher education and how to access them.
  • Sensible Documentation: Requires colleges to accept an IEP or 504 plan as evidence of disability when a student is seeking accommodations in college - in place of additional costly testing.
  • Training: Supports a technical assistance center for college faculty to learn more about students with disabilities and their needs.
