Support the Raising of Charter School Facility Funding

Support the Raising of Charter School Facility Funding
Why this petition matters
As students at a public charter school in Massachusetts, we have experienced difficulties and challenges from the lack of funding our school receives. Some of these challenges include, but not limited to; no gym, no cafeteria (No matter how cold it is we are required to eat outside), lack of classroom space, lack of school materials (i.e. pencils and calculators), and poor facility management (i.e. poor drainage, leaky roof, poor plumbing etc). If our school along with other charter schools, get the proper amount of facility funding, we will have better resources and education materials which can impact/help the growth and learning of students. To make this change happen we need to rally enough support to convince our state legislators to increase the budget for charter school funding. Charter schools are not eligible to receive funding by grants from the Massachusetts School Building Authority. The MSBA is not giving the assistance so local communities are trying to raise the per pupil yearly allotment for facilities from $888 to $1,088. By signing this petition you will help us get one step closer to creating a better school environment for students including us. Your signature shows that you care about the quality of education of all charter school students.
