Levi Bennett started this petition to Winston-Salem City Council Members

We love calling Winston-Salem home but we are tired of driving 30+ minutes to enjoy one of our favorite outdoor activities, disc golf! Winston-Salem is the only city in the Triad without a public disc golf course. There are, however, 87 parks with over 525 acres of unused land in the park system, far more than enough room for our city to allocate a space, or possibly a few, where a disc golf course could be planned and installed.

There have been many prior attempts and plans to add a course to one of our parks, but they have all failed, or been nixed by boards or commissions. But, we will not quit asking for something so seemingly necessary. According to the Professional Disc Golf Association and Google Trends, disc golf doubled in popularity during 2020, and will no doubt continue to grow.

Currently, many Winston-Salem disc golfers are forced to travel to other towns, cities, and county parks to host or participate in tournaments or even just play. Our city is also missing out on potential revenue from park rental fees for hosting tournaments or other organized events that can help to foster positive economic impact generated by out-of-town players.

We ask our city council to commit land, funding, and resources to allow the Winston-Salem Disc Golf Club and our local disc golfers to develop a new disc golf course in conjunction with the recreation and parks department who encouraging this effort and offering their full support.

Let’s make it a reality, we NEED this. All we need you to do is show your support by signing this petition and share it with your friends and family.
