The Tau Tau Chapter of Sigma Chi is being severely punished by the University for minor offenses that could ultimately lead to the collapse of the Chapter. Sigma Chi is being punished with suspension until the Spring of 2024, which includes a ban on rush and recruitment.  Furthermore, the punishment prevents our Chapter from using the Sigma Chi house on campus until the suspension ends.  The school has been positively vocal saying they want Sigma Chi to survive on WashU's campus, but the prevention of using the house or recruiting new members will effectively end the Chapter.  

Sigma Chi has been found responsible for two social events last year, and one social event this year.  These three minor infractions have led to this final punishment and suspension for the Tau Tau Chapter.  We find this punishment to be extreme for the actual actions of our Chapter.  Other houses have been found responsible for the same actions and have not been punished to this extent.  Furthermore, the people reporting Sigma Chi are other fraternities at WashU as they partake in the same actions that our Chapter is being punished for.  It should be noted that these other fraternities view Sigma Chi as competition and it would be valuable to them to have Sigma Chi not exist.  Sigma Chi has dominated new member recruitment for years, which gives benefit to other fraternities if Sigma Chi is on suspension.

Since 1903, Sigma Chi has been an instrumental part of the WashU community and has produced thousands of alumni with memories that these Brothers will never forget. 

Our Chapter puts the community at the top of our priority list, as we have been involved in every facet of the culture at WashU.  Our Brothers have started new clubs at the school, been pivotal parts of Varsity sports teams in search of national titles, led freshman orientation trainings, served as student mental health advisors, been elected to student government positions, and held leadership positions in career coaching and professional networks within the school.  Additionally, our Chapter raises thousands of dollars for the Huntsman Cancer Institute, which plays a pivotal role in the lives of people going through battles with cancer.  Every single member of Sigma Chi is involved in activities outside of the Fraternity, which is something we are very proud of. Sigma Chi has always represented what it means to be men of good character at our school, and it would be disheartening to have that all go away.

Our ask is for our strong alumni base to sign this petition to support our Chapter and show the school how much Sigma Chi has meant to us all and that it would be a mistake to end the proud history of Tau Tau.
