Petition Closed

As a concerned citizen of Rocklin, I am signing this petition to show my support for the City of Rocklin to allow continued use of the Community Center, located at 5480 Fifth Street, for the Scouting organizations that are incorporated within the City of Rocklin as previously agreed upon by the City of Rocklin, the City Council of Rocklin and the Scouting organizations.

As the Scouting organizations in Rocklin have been provided use of City owned buildings for over 25 years, I agree that it would place a financial hardship on these organizations to begin charging $5,000 to $15,000 annually for the use of the Rocklin Community Center for their meetings. I agree that the City of Rocklin should continue to offer use of the Community Center free of charge for the Scouting organizations currently authorized by the City of Rocklin through current and previous Memorandums of Understanding.

Scouting is a valuable part of our community and contributes thousands of volunteer community service hours back to the City of Rocklin every year. Additionally, Scouting provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and develops personal fitness. These are all values that should be supported in our community.

For all the above stated reasons, the signers of this petition hereby encourage the Rocklin City Council to deny the fee charges the Director of Public Services is requesting of the Scouting organizations effective April 1, 2013 and to continue offering the fee waivers currently in place.
