Lake Como provides opportunities for hikers, horse riders, motorboat and jet-ski users, swimmers, bikers, paddle boarders, people fishing, picnickers, and many others. Each use is appropriate. Non-motorized water use and noise were among the top topics identified by the Bitterroot National Forest during their public comment process to establish a Lake Como Master Recreation Plan. Many quiet users are being displaced or having their recreation enjoyment lessened or their safety jeopardized because of loud, motorized watercraft travelling at high speeds on Lake Como. For balanced use, fairness, and enjoyment for all there should be some days/times where motorized use is limited.
