Morgan Hamby started this petition to Publix Super Markets

Single use plastic has a one time use but a forever impact. We are seeing more and more trash in our natural environment and we all need to reduce the consumption of these items.

If large grocers such as Publix, here in the southeast, take the lead by ceasing to supply single use plastic bags at checkout, they can have a meaningful impact. When I reached out to Publix, pleading with them to stop offering wasteful plastic bags as an option at checkout, they responded "many customers prefer paper or plastic bags." This response is unacceptable for me. At times, decisions need to be made advocating for the best interest of humanity, not caving to the lowest common denominator. Publix has this opportunity to be courageous and responsible and must not waste it.

Publix- set the expectation: customers must bring their own bags when coming to Publix. If they refuse, they can purchase paper bags or cardboard boxes for a price which will equate to the appropriate impact their actions have on our environment.

I am passionate about protecting our planet for the next generation. My petition comes as a product of love for the planet and all living creatures. Everything is connected, and the more we pollute our ecosystem, the more we will be jeopardizing our own health and the health of our children.
