Indigenous children have been snatched from their families by various colonial authorities (churches, then governments) for over 100 years. PLUS, the murders of indigenous people go unpunished (or lightly-punished) too often. Pamela George, Colton Boushie, Nadine Machiskinick (sp?), Tina Fontaine, and others never had justice.

Data, statistics tell a different story about Child Welfare and Justice systems in Saskatchewan that are portrayed as effective public policy but are extremely disproportionate for the percentage of Indigenous People in Saskatchewan to the number of children in foster care, in corrections. The list goes on for Education, Health, Housing, Income and more. Public Policy has to change and it will take everybody at the table to make it happen.

Systemic racism against indigenous people in Canada is so deeply ingrained that it has perverted the systems designed to protect families. This is unacceptable, and must change.
