We support the Midtown Cluster for Diversity, Stability, and Community.

Voting "YES" to add a 5th Elementary School to the Midtown Cluster will displace almost 1000 students across 3 Midtown Cluster Elementary Schools, without prioritizing a long-term plan to address Midtown High overcapacity projections.

A decision this impactful should be about what's best for our kids, not just  convenient for the adults.

We ask APS and the Board to consider our Midtown Cluster students and teachers and take care to do their due diligence- engage with our affected Midtown Cluster community, seek out stakeholder expertise and wait for their own APS reviews by the APS Division of Academics and APS Center for Equity and Social Justice before voting!

We further ask the Board of Education to vote NO on a new K5. Our Cluster deserves long-term solutions aimed to keep our Midtown Cluster together, starting at the Midtown High School level. Our Midtown Cluster students and teachers deserve stability and a plan. We are concerned that rushing through the short-term fix of a new K5 will bring us right back here in 5 years (as APS and their consultants have stated).

And we offer a solution! We ask APS and the Board to endorse and approve a SPARK K5 Dual Campus to give APS time and flexibility to use real Post- Covid data and projections to make long-term plans and solutions for our whole Midtown Cluster.
