Michael Melling, vice president of news at Bell Media, is responsible for toppling LaFlamme, multiple sources say.
“He’s a company guy,” says the senior CTV source. “He doesn’t stand up for the journalists … He doesn’t like it when women push back and he brags about how he’s ruined the careers of anyone who dares push back.”
Unlike her male counterparts who chose their final dates and whose final broadcasts were celebrations of their long and proud careers, CTV executives who summarily dismissed Ms. LaFlamme for the offense of 'advocating while female' standing up to a male executive, having an opinion and a voice, insured she left with nothing more than a one line sign-off announcement that she had been fired.
Please sign this petition to restore Lisa LaFlamme to the anchor desk and speak out against professional women being arbitrarily fired for taking a stand. SHE DESERVES TO REGAIN HER POST, CONTINUE AS LONG AS HER MALE COUNTERPARTS DID, AND BE TREATED WITH RESPECT, NOT TOXIC MASCULINITY.

She also stood up for a female producer Rose Huang when Melling tried to sideline her back to a local news broadcast.
