Support Linton Stockton Learning 2025

Support Linton Stockton Learning 2025
Why this petition matters

Say YES to continuing on the Current educational path at Linton-Stockton!
In April of this year Linton Stockton was given an award from the AASA for being named a Learning 2025 Lighthouse Demonstration System. The AASA is the School Superintendents Association. It is a national organization and serves as a resource for the superintendent. It is not a federally funded program and there are no requirements to implement any of it. It is simply a resource similar to those available for any other profession. Curriculum for public schools is directed by Indiana State Standards and Linton- Stockton’s curriculum follows those Standards. For three years the Superintendent, School Board, Principals and staff have been implementing Future Focused Education focused on giving all students an equal opportunity for quality education regardless of race, religion, economic status or sexual orientation. There have been several things implemented such as the creation of Graduate Profiles that were done so with public input via surveys that were sent out multiple times to develop these based on what the public deemed to be important in our area. RRR is a Rigor, Relevance and Relationship focus to help all learners prepare for life after high school. There are many other things that have been implemented and can be seen around our school.
However, on May 28th 2022, in response to the award the Linton Stockton schools were given by the AASA a petition was started by a group of people in our community. This group has made statements and comments that have been divisive, while taking things that are on the AASA website and incorrectly stating that it is fact that the school corporation will be implementing all of these. That is not true. The school board, superintendent and many of the staff have publicly said this is not going to be part of the curriculum.
While everyone is entitled to their viewpoint, to this point there has been no coordinated way for those supporting the current educational path the school is taking to express their support. There is a petition for those against it and now there is one for those in favor of trusting the Superintendent, Staff and School board to do what is best for our students. If you are in favor of this school board continuing on the path they are currently on and have been on for the past three years please make it known by voting YES and by calling each school board member individually and letting them know. Thank you.
