Help! Homes for the homeless, the young and young families
Planning Application: PORTFIELDS RISE
Planning Application ref 17/02105/OUT
337 Homes at Little Linford Lane on behalf of the GRAND UNION HOUSING GROUP
The Grand Union Housing Group (GUHG) has a strong track record of building much needed new homes in the local area. Over the past ten years they have built over 1,500 homes for customers looking for more affordable housing at market rates providing families and individuals with a first step onto the property ladder. Currently the GUHG owns and manages over 300 homes within Milton Keynes, which range from one bedroom flats to four bedroom houses and these are all let or sold on a range of tenures.
The GUHG is neither a speculative developer nor a PLC house builder and unlike many developers in Milton Keynes they WILL be building ALL the affordable homes that national and local policies require.
The Portfields Rise application is for a total of 377 homes in a wide range of sizes and tenures and will be built over a number of years in several phases. If all goes as intended, Phase 1 should start delivering houses within 6 months of commencement. Some of these homes will be sold on the open market however a large number will be much needed affordable homes.
In Phase 1 there will be 24 houses and flats for rent and shared ownership sale. These new homes will make a real and immediate difference to young and struggling families in Newport Pagnell and will create hope and opportunity for many people.
Unlike many other developers in MK, Grand Union are not arguing about how many affordable homes should be built and they are not looking to reduce numbers to make more money. On the contrary Grand Union are going one step further! In addition to the 24 affordable homes the first phase will also contain 18 smaller two bedroom houses that are aimed specifically at first-time buyers and will be priced accordingly.
There is a large acoustic mound to be built along the M1 and Grand Union are already in discussion with Government Agencies who are keen to support new and affordable housing on this site. A lot of work has already been done on this project to make sure it happens without delay. It is a great site for new housing and it’s real and it’s ready! Things will happen as soon as planning approval is granted.
Everyone understands that we are facing a housing crisis and everyone knows we need to build more homes, particularly for the young. Everyone keeps on talking about the problem and everyone agrees but nothing happens!
Portfields Rise offers everyone a chance to make a difference.
