Alec Pagan has been a figure in the strongman community for the past 3 years, as a coach and advocate for women and weight class athletes within the sport. His accomplishments as a coach are widely known, but he's also done a lot of important work behind the scenes with little to no recognition. Most recently he'd gotten the opportunity to pursue his dream job in commentary. As someone who actually pays attention to all the athletes, knows all the stats, and respects everyone as equals, Alec quickly became a crowd favorite behind the mic. He did such a great job with the OSG qualifier contests that he was offered a commentary role with the Shaw Classic.

Unfortunately, the next day that dream was ripped away after a series of allegations by an ex girlfriend turned the whole community against him. Because of the upset caused by these claims, Alec was let go from the commentary position. Anyone who has reached out for information has seen the evidence debunking many of these allegations, but unfortunately people only believe what they read online. And in today's cancel culture, everyone is quick to take a stance on something that could quite literally ruin someone's life, without any personal knowledge or attempt at understanding the situation.  

I don't know what we're trying to achieve with this petition - perhaps just to show Alec that he still has support in this community. And to encourage people to actually reach out and ask for his side of the story. Because anyone so far who has listened to what he has to say has walked away with a very different perspective on the situation. Alec does not deserve to have his career ended by allegations that are able to be disproven. At this point, all he really wants is his job back. But if that's not possible, I hope that at least we can keep this from happening again, and give him back his place within the community.
