My name is Simon, founder of ReMeLife, the world’s first crypto rewards-based health and social care community. For years I watched my mothers' carers struggle; poorly paid, underappreciated and with little respite. As a result, I’ve spent years building care software. 
 
1 in 8 adults are carers. Every day 6,000 more take on caring. Only 43% of those that request support receive it. We’re in a health and social care crisis, that’s now compounded by inflation and energy costs. It’s time to get innovative !
 
During lockdown I explored solutions other than increased taxes. I made two remarkable discoveries.

Are you aware of the Friendly Societies of the 1900’s? That provided community managed care, insurance, and support to 30% of the working-class, until they were dismantled due to 'their threat of achieving freedom from middle-class supervision'. Secondly, fascinated by crypto’s potential for social change, through financial decentralisation and data democratisation, I discovered the DAO (Decentralised Autonomous Organisation). A scary term yes, but it’s actually simple, being just a community, self-managed on the blockchain, that uses its finances for its member's benefit. Sounds like a Friendly Society to me - and one that can’t be shut down!
 
I’m not a believer in disruption. I just want social justice through tech transformation. But the media have so misguidedly maligned crypto that most don’t appreciate the benefits that it can bring to families and care. Blockchain technology has the potential to level the playing field financially, capture the value in our digital care, generate a passive income for caregivers, and improve the wellness of those we care for. It will also make it possible for self-sufficient care communities to re-emerge and for us to depend less on those who, let's face it, may not always have our best interests at heart. ReMeLife and crypto can establish a "Careocracy."
 
We’re all carers. Whether at home or far away, physically or digitally. Each one of us can provide Care Actions. Crypto rewards incentivise us to ‘do more’; for our families, neighbours, and communities.
