The recent removal of Confederate Lieutenant General Nathan Bedford Forest’s statue has left a vacancy adjacent to I-65. All political views or personal sentiments aside, the statute's disposal has left a void.

With the absence comes an opportunity. Nashville is a growing city home to a wide variety of great and influential people. I suggest the erection of a new statue of a hero of our community and someone who best represents the qualities of not only the people of Nashville but all Tennesseans.

And that someone is no other than Derrick Henry, 2020’s Offensive Player of the Year. Not only has Henry greatly contributed to the success of the Tennessee Titans, but he has also been a star off the field. This year Henry was named a Walter Payton Award finalist for his charitable contributions and volunteer work, consistently giving back to our community through his Two All Foundation and work with The Boys and Girls Club.

A star on the field, and a true role model off the field, who better for a statue for future generations to look up to than King Henry?
