Reduce the use of free plastic bags for fruit and veg

Plastic is becoming a huge burden for the planet. Fruit such as bananas, oranges etc. come in their own 'packaging' making it unncessary and wasteful to package them in single use plastic bags. Many times I've seen shoppers pack one or two bananas into a plastic bag which once home, will most likely land in the bin and then in landfill. Supermarkets should encourage sales of reusable produce bags in the same way they encourage the sale of bags for life. They should also put up signs next to fruit such as 'I come in my own packaging, please don't put me in a plastic bag to help reduce waste'.
"Water and air, the two essential fluids on which all life depends, have become global garbage cans." Jacques Yves Cousteau
