We need your help! New York City has made a significant pledge to provide every classroom with air conditioners by 2022, but sadly this commitment only includes rooms that currently do not have them. It does not address the many, many broken air conditioners that are currently in place across the city. PS 11 currently has 29 broken air conditioners causing extreme heat and distress to our students and teachers alike. The City expects schools to replace all the inoperable air conditioners from their own budgets.  The cost of this expenditure would take over $100,000 away from our already greatly reduced budget.

Managing the temperature in the classrooms is a basic facilities function and should not come out of our budget to hire teachers or buy books for our students. We expect the city to follow through with its’ commitment to install air conditioning in ALL classrooms which includes replacing the ones that are broken.
