Make Chikkamagaluru a safe & secure place for common citizen

On the 30th of August, 2021, a horrifying incident shook us with hurt, anger & indignation. A brooding question, “How is, the well intentioned, common citizen to feel safe?” resonated in our minds.
Returning back home from a visit to Kemmangundi, WildCAT-C members, including Mr. D V Girish, encountered a few inebriated thugs who passed lewd comments and gestures with absolute perversion to a young lady in the gypsy. Mr. Girish, and others, objected to the inappropriate behaviour. Considering that there were young citizens in the Gypsy, the team decided not to react and resumed their drive back home.
Frightfully, seven of them on two bikes blocked the vehicle of Mr. D V Girish near Kambihalli. The gypsy was blocked, waylaid, stones were hurled that hurt one team member. The hooligans pulled Mr. D V Girish out of his gypsy and started hitting him as well as the other members in the vehicle. The lethal attack was stopped by the intervention of villagers, but the culprits managed to escape before being apprehended. The villagers present asked for forgiveness on behalf of the miscreants saying that were habituated to doing this and the elders would council them!
How safe are our guests, we ourselves on our hills? We demand that patrolling in sensitive areas be increased, the prevalent laws be effectively & stringently implemented to safeguard the common citizens. We demand that such rogue elements be identified and sensitized on appropriate behavior & the severe consequences if they deviate
