Corona virus has now spread to Danbury Ct, only 11 miles from New Milford. The incubation period for the Corona Virus leads to one to 14 days but now researchers are saying up to 24 days, the numbers could change again tomorrow so why wait till it’s too late to make changes? There needs to be taken extreme precautions for this outbreak. There are about 4,200 enrolled students that attend New Milford public schools alone, that doesn’t include daycares or other private school programs in the area. Where all students are traveling to and from different places everyday including Danbury mall, large shopping stores and even concerts. Not to mention, where are all of our administrative staff, teachers and school visitors traveling to and from? We may be young and possibly have a low risk of inhabiting Covid-19 but many more students have respiratory problems and other illnesses that tax their immune system then you may think. This virus spreads like wild fire. Hundreds of lives are at stake. The public schools systems need to set up an online schooling program while there is still time so students can continue their education at home. With only 3 more months of school, should the school systems remain open while this pandemic virus lingers and unknowingly where and who it will target next?  None of us can rely on students/faculty to always adequately wash their hands after using the bathroom or properly cover their sneeze/cough. But what you can rely on is there will be a much higher chance for everyone to stay healthy if schools were closed. The Corona Virus has traveled from China to Danbury Ct within a matter of only 67 days and so why couldn’t it be in New Milford today? So why has no appropriate and proactive action been taken for the concern of our town yet ?  Please take a stand with me and help to try and secure the health of our young generation and all of their families at home !
