Why this petition matters

Started by Myla Ross

The Berlin Boylston Education Association has proposed a phased re entry plan for the 2020/2021 school year.  This includes a full remote plan to start the school year with movement to a true hybrid model that will keep class sizes and contacts lower by having less people in the building at one time.  Finally, they hope to reach a fully reopened model with continued safety precautions in place.  The rentry plan is to based on science and data, not dates, as it unfolds.  This plan, I believe, has the greatest chance of keeping our children and community safe during these unprecedented times.  The full reopen and hybrid plans put forth by Superintendent Zanghi each involve having ALL students in the building at once with less than 6 feet of distancing.  Thus far, the plan supported by our amazing teachers has been denied and not offered as a choice to the school committee by the superintendent.  Let’s support our children, teachers, and community and fight for a safer plan.  There is no perfect plan, but there is a better plan.
