In signing because I can see the negative and irreparable mental health effects of all virtual schools in the children in the APS school system.

Because childhood education should be a priority. It is essential.
Because evidence shows low transmition among children.
Because APS will slide further down in education rankings in this country.
Because we are losing students, they are not engaging and we need to advocate for them.
Because I know a nurse who never stopped working her hospital job and watches her 2nd grader through home cameras, home alone.
Becuse we rely on teachers to report to social services.
Because childhood education should not be a political decision.

I want APS children to have the option to attend school in person, if that is their choice. Many other school districts have reopened safely in GA and across the US. It can be done. Look at the data. The virus is not going away - we must learn to live with it. We won't wake up one day and it's gone, even with a vaccine.
Our children are suffering. Please...it is time to start anew.
