Stop SUNY from using Buffalo State Residence Hall as quarantine site.
Why this petition matters

I would like for SUNY to reconsider using a residence hall at my school, Buffalo State College, as a quarantine site for 300 study abroad students studied in high risk areas for the COVID19 coronavirus. I don’t think that it’s safe for the students and faculty. There are students with young children that live in one of the residence halls here on campus. There’s a childcare center here on campus. If there are students that test positive who’s to say that those students will stay in the quarantine site? Who’s to say that it won’t be spread to students that weren’t studying abroad? Why is a college campus the best idea they had for a quarantine site? I personally am at greater risk of infection due to asthma and I am sure there are students on campus with compromised immune systems. There may be students that don’t have health insurance and cannot pay for treatment. My concern is for well being of the population of the school and of the city of Buffalo. My wish is for SUNY to make a wise decision and not quarantine potential carriers on a college campus. My hope is to prevent the possible spread of the COVID19 coronavirus to those that attend class and work here at Buffalo State. Together we can hopefully reach SUNY and get them to reconsider putting thousands of people at risk.
