We are objecting to the proposed removal of the dog off leash beach at beach access 247 to 245 to allow for the declaration of a new bathing reserve at Bokarina Beach which will facilitate a patrolled area outside the new Stocklands development.

We understand that there is a requirement for dogs to be on leash in patrolled areas however we object to the proposed complete removal of a large proportion of designated off-leash dog beach currently enjoyed by the thousands of residents and dog owners in this area. Many of which are exercising their dogs early morning and late afternoon, outside of patrolled hours.

There is a need for the dog owners of this community to have a designated and protected space and time to exercise their dogs. Further, there is no reason that both needs of a patrolled beach and a leash free beach cannot be satisfied. We suggest an alternative to a complete removal of the off-leash area. The alternative being specific off-leash and on-leash times within the new proposed bathing reserve.
