Apply the Precautionary Principle, and refuse permission for any mosque application, anywhere on the Sunshine Coast.

1/ Due to current national security issues, public disruption, and local community concerns, we ask council apply the “Precautionary Principle’ “An action should not be taken if the consequences are uncertain and potentially dangerous”.
2/ Because previous applications and developments for similar properties have resulted in adverse social impacts, we ask council to apply Section 8 of Sustainable Planning Act 2009, EDO, Qld, updated 2010 which states: ‘The SPA states that the cultural, economic, physical and social well being of people and communities is maintained if well-serviced and healthy communities with affordable, efficient, safe and sustainable development are created and maintained’.
3/ When guarantees given by the new owners with regards property are claimed to extinguish any statutory or legal right permissible with the land use, the community cannot accept these assurances.
4/ Where the identity of the operators and the major source of funding and origins of the group are not fully understood, there are unacceptable risks to community sustainability, cohesion and economic prosperity.
We believe that mosques pose an unacceptable risk to community safety.
