Although having much financial trouble, His Masters Voice is an iconic British brand that has pioneered the sales of film and music since 1921.
It was announced today (05/02/2019) that the company had been bought by Sunrise Records, saving 100 stores as well as almost 1500 jobs. By doing this however, they have announced the immediate closure of 27 stores, including its flag ship store, Oxford Street.
The original Oxford Street store was the first store opened in 1921 before moving to its current home in 1986, which at the time was the largest record store in the world.
Its flagship store is favoured by most who live in London not only due to its size and staff but because of its history and heritage. HMV Oxford Street is arguably the home of the brand and in two years time it will be 100 years since HMV first opened on Oxford Street, which is a huge achievement and representative of how iconic their oxford street store is.
This petition asks Sunrise Records to reconsider their decision to close HMV Oxford Street, and keep the HMV flag ship store open.
With your help, this petition can demonstrate the love and demand for HMV Oxford Street, and keep an iconic music brand in its original home where it has stood for almost 100 years.
