Upgrade Perimeter Fencing Around Miller Arms Apts to reduce crime in the area

Good morning friends. One of the first objectives of this movement will be to lobby for Miller Arm Apartments to fix the exterior fence surrounding the perimeter of their property. For at least the past 15 years these "shortcuts" have been a way for local area criminals to elude law enforcement and have places to conduct criminal activity. On December 5, 2017 a shooting and robbery took place less than 250 feet from my residence. If this business really supports the community in which their residents live and they make money, then fixing the fence should be a small token of them trying to improve the safety for their residents and neighbors. We have suggested iron fencing around the perimeter of the property which is a lot more difficult to cut. I'm sure the residents wouldn't mind a slight increase in rent to offset the cost of this project and better ensure their safety. We will push to have this brought up on the Feburary 2018 agenda at Sumter County Council meetings. Since 2003, the two apartment complexes known as Miller Arms and Poplar Square Apartments has had more than 5500 service calls to law enforcement. This equals at least one call a day for the past 15 years. These properties have one of many things in common, first and foremost broken fencing between them that allows criminals to elude law enforcement.
