Why this petition matters

Started by A J

Suffolk University has decided that it is best to move "[M]ore than half of the fall semester classes will be fully online.". But at the same time, base tuition for the Boston Undergraduate program's 2021 school year has increased by about 3.5% ($41,242 vs. $39,814) - without factoring in housing and fees.

The Suffolk University is charging traditional in-person experience tuition when "[M]ore than half of the fall semester classes will be fully online"

At the state of current events, many students are suffering financial hardships. Studies have shown that the quality of online education is up to the standards of in-person learning, and many professors are unable to properly operate on a remote/online platform. The price of the tuition should reflect the quality of education and on-campus experiences the students receive.

Beyond education, Suffolk University mandates that "Gatherings may not exceed 10 individuals with face coverings and social distancing. Large groups will be encouraged to meet via Zoom and other platforms.", which severely curtails the extracurricular experience offered to students prior to the current Coronavirus pandemic.

We, the students Suffolk University, hereby demand that tuition be decreased or offer partial tuition and fees reimbursement for those who have already paid, to better reflect the decrease in the qualities of education and the compromised nature of the 2020-2021 university experience.
