Paige Kolar started this petition to Suffolk County Executive and

Suffolk County Lifeguards ( Smith Point Beach, Cupsogue and Meschutt Beach) are by far the lowest paid open water lifeguards on Long Island. They have not received a raise since 2013. These lifeguards are highly trained, need to complete over 40 hours of training and acquire multiple certifications in order to be hired. They’re nine time National Champions and maintain a extremely difficult zero drowning record since the beach opened in 1959. Yet, they’re being paid minimum wage ($14 dollars an hour) and their ocean supervisors, some with over 10 years of experience are topped out at $18.25 while most comparable lifeguards are starting at over 20 dollars and supervisors at 30.

Please sign this petition to show the Suffolk County Executive, Steve Bellone, and our Suffolk County Legislators how much these lifeguards mean to the public and Suffolk County Beach safety. As well as supporting fairness and equality.
