ExOTicC Playz started this petition to Sudbury (Suffolk) Town Council and

When Babergh District Council announced the closure of their main Hadleigh office in 2017 it was agreed that the Sudbury Advice Centre/ Customer Access Point (CAP) should remain in Sudbury. Babergh took the decision to invest and relocate the Centre to its current location in the Town Hall. Up until Covid 19 weekly housing, homeless, and licensing surgeries were held by Babergh staff within the CAP.

The CAP helps around 1500 customers each year from all over the Babergh area. Since re-opening our face-to face service in May (COVID 19 secure) to the end of October we have served over 1000 Babergh customers, along with some residents of Mid-Suffolk, spending 6427 minutes providing assistance. How can this service not be required?

We appreciate and understand that many services are available digitally and encourage and support our customers to access them. However there is a significant proportion that, for whatever reason, are unable to access.

Although the three of us writing this petition are all facing redundancy we are more concerned about the help and support our customers will no longer receive. The CUSTOMER part of our job is everything to us. We are not the NHS, but can honestly say that our support and advice has saved lives. Please support this petition to make Babergh District Council reconsider withdrawing its funding and closing this vital service.
