Say "No" to building roads over our Laurentian Trails

We care about this land because it has a great history with the people in the City of Sudbury. To start off, these trails and the conservation area are used every single day of the year, whether it is by skiers in the winter, or cyclists, runners and walkers in the summer, there is always a friend on the system. The trail system that is here at Laurentian is one of the greatest in Northern Ontario and we think it should stay like this. This trail system is so magnificent it hosts dozens of races every year and is important to highschool sports where there are many cross country running and nordic skiing races put on each year, let alone one of the most historic races in Sudbury, the Beaton Classic which uses the Moonlight trail. Schools use these trails to race and to train because they are safe and not open to traffic and also because they are situated in the perfect area in the middle of the city where most/all of the schools have easy access to it. But it is not only us athletes that are affected, it is a conservation area which is made to protect the animals and the wildlife as well. As an everyday user of the trails I know first hand the true beauty of the nature that the conservation area protects and I cannot remember a time this summer when I went biking or running on these trails and did not see an innocent little animal. So extending South Bay road and creating a road that is going through the conservation area doesn't just hurt the athletes and nature lovers that use and enjoy this simply amazing trail system, it hurts the animals and their habitats.

These trails are used by many to train on, race on, and even just adventure on, and we think it should stay like this. We believe that a road or two could not be more important than this amazing land.

There is also a Sustainable Transport Info night (which is a brief presentation and Question and Answer about the Master Plan) on Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 at the Open Studio at the Cedar Plaza. More information about that can be found here;

This plan is going to the council on December 13th, 2016 so we need to get this word out fast.
