There is a strike scheduled to take place on Monday, October 16, 2017, if no changes are made. The Ontario Public Service Employee Union (OPSEU), which represents more than 12,000 employees in the college system, has said the key issues include giving faculty and students more of a voice in academic decisions and what it calls the “ongoing exploitation of contract faculty.”
it is said that employer “is not moving forward on the issues faculty care about most — even in the case of no-cost items like academic freedom or longer contracts for contract faculty.”
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union said in a news release late Tuesday that the date was set after the College Employer Council walked away from the bargaining table.
Please help support our College Faculty so that they can provide the quality education that students signed up for. Also, support our contract faculty who seek to have better job security through longer contracts which in effect enables them to give better service to students.
For more updates, please follow the news closely and college websites.
Thank you for your support.
