UIC Administration’s incompetence to end the GEO strike has affected us UIC undergraduate students greatly. Many of us have been missing classes for the second week, yet have home-works, essays and exams due this week, which we have not received proper preparation for. This disruption in our education has affected our grades and academic learning.

This is not the education that we deserve and are going in debt for!

We are an unofficial student union demanding compensation for the academic services we have paid for, yet not received in the past two weeks. The compensation that we are asking for can be in a form of partial tuition refunds for the Spring 2019 semester or partial tuition waivers for the Fall 2019 semester. In addition, we are asking UIC faculty, instructors and professors to push exams to next week, or until the strike is over.

We value our Teacher Assistants and Graduate Workers that teach many of our classes, and recognize their overwhelming contributions to our academic achievements. However, UIC administration’s failure to comply with our instructors’ fairly reasonable demands to receive a fair wage for their crucial labor is a shame for us UIC undergraduate students and an indication of how much UIC values us undergraduates.

We are asking all UIC undergraduate students to join the strike and boycott all classes Thursday-Friday! It’s time the administration starts caring about our education!

Join our student rally in the quad on Friday at noon for more information!
