As a long-time advocate for marine and terrestrial conservation, I firmly believe that all schools on Guam should offer a credited Marine Biology course to serve as an elective science course for juniors and seniors.

I am proposing this course to serve as an Honors course and run as a semester-only course for the first year (as a trial run). The course will implement the classroom-to-field approach, in which students will be taken out "to the field" to learn about the subject material through firsthand experience and environmental immersion. Subject material will begin with the principles of marine science, move on to the study of the organisms of the sea along with the structure and functions of marine ecosystems, and conclude with a unit titled "Humans and the Sea," in which we will study the effects that humans have made and will continue to make on marine ecosystems and organisms.

Please sign the petition if you are interested in, or plan to take, the course, should it be approved for a trial run next year (2020-2021)!
