Universities are allowed to charge a student £1,000 when they want to better their degree by going on a placement year. They are allowed to charge this substantial amount despite doing little or nothing for the student, there is no reason for this figure, it just is.

I feel that it is the University taking advantage of a student that wants to better their degree, and many students wouldn't do the placement year because they don't want the extra debt, a big shame.

All i've received are some emails, no help in finding a placement at all, certainly nothing that warrants a another £1,000 bill coming my way. The amount should be taken away or at least reduced to encourage more students to go on a placement year.
