separate middle eastern from white on collegeboard
Middle Eastern people are not white. On programs such as the PSAT and SAT, we are included as white. This erases our identities. We have distinctly different experiences in the United States, such as overcoming stereotypes and racism. This grouping together with white people, often our oppressors, is very harmful and takes away from the culture and hardships we have faced as people of color. Middle Eastern people deserve to be recognized as the people of color we are in the race section of standardized tests such as the SAT. When it is convenient for Americans, we are white. But when it comes down to it, they don’t accept us. Please consider signing this petition if you want justice for Middle Eastern people and agree that we should not have to be lumped in with a race that is not ours, or forced to choose “other.”
