Why this petition matters

Started by Aimee Craig
The Socotra Dragons blood tree is found only on Socotra island in Yemen. the name "Dragons blood" comes from the tree "bleeding" just like humans would if they were cut but it is not blood it is red resin. The conservation status of the trees is vulnerable which is unnerving. These trees are depleting due to climate change making their habitat have less moisture than it already has. If the Socotra Dragons blood tree becomes fully extinct many small animals and rare plants only found on Socotra island will quickly disappear as well due to not having enough shade or nutrients from these 16 to 30ft trees. Please sign this petition in hopes of saving the Socotra Dragons blood trees from extinction.
