Save Block Scheduling - Westlake High School

This petition had 337 supporters

Block Scheduling is an 80 minute class period that allows students and teachers to delve deeply into subject matter with little or no interruptions. The block may not seem like a big deal to many. However, to us students it is a way of preparing for the rigor of college. This type of scheduling allows us, students, to investigate and research new ideas as well as collaborate with fellow classmates. It also teaches us the skills needed to budget time correctly so that we can accomplish everything with less stress.

The purpose of this petition is to make the public aware of the imminent loss of block scheduling. We need enough student signatures in order to convince the MPTA that we should not be used as bargaining chips in teacher negotiations. Our hope is that with enough support, the MPTA will agree to continue block scheduling for our sakes.

Us children of the Mount Pleasant Central School District deserve the best eduction possible. We all want the best and strive for excellence both at home and at school. Thanks to Mt. Pleasant families, teachers, administrators, support staff and volunteers, our schools are excellent. They work so hard each and every day to maintain a level of excellence. Unfortunately, the block schedule is being used by the MPTA as part of contract negotiations between the school district and the MPTA. Us students are at risk of losing the block scheduling, which is one of the many things that makes Westlake High School such an amazing place.

Please join the fight and sign our petition.

Thank you,

- The students of Westlake High School
