Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, it starts with you and me

Problem about "Improper solid waste management". In the Philippines, solid waste management remains a big issue, particularly in metropolitan areas such as Metro Manila. The country's solid waste management is hampered by improper trash disposal, poor waste collection, and a shortage of disposal facilities.
“Payatas 2000 Tragedy: Mountainous piles of trash killed at least 260 people” In the Philippines, solid waste management remains a big issue, particularly in metropolitan areas such as Metro Manila. This is especially evident in Brgy. Payatas, a part of the 2nd district in Quezon City, which is near barangays such as Commonwealth, Bagong Silangan, and Batasan Hills. Commonly known as “The Payatas Dump”, it is the largest dumpsite of over 14 million people in Metro Manila. It became the largest dumpsite covering 13 hectares of land. 40 years ago, before it was dubbed as its name now, it was simply a barren ravine that was surrounded by farmland. On July 10, 2000 tragedy struck Payatas due to the collapse of a 50ft wall of solid waste, wherein hundreds of lives were buried within it. This serves as a reminder and representation of the country's solid waste management; it is hampered by improper trash disposal, poor waste collection, and a shortage of disposal facilities.
With this, we introduce to you our campaign for the betterment of solid waste management in the Philippines; 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, It Starts With You and Me.
The "3Rs" concept refers to reducing waste, reusing, and recycling resources and goods. Reducing waste implies deciding to utilize items with consideration in order to limit the quantity of waste produced. Reusing refers to the repeated use of objects or portions of goods that are still useful. The term "recycling" refers to the utilization of garbage as a resource. The 3Rs may become a global concept embraced by all people, rather than merely an activity or a program. This will not only increase productivity and environmental indices, but will also contribute to a more comfortable environment. Public awareness of proper solid waste management techniques (3Rs; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) is the foundation for an essential component of a sustainable material-cycle and resource-efficient society.
Public awareness is the foundation of public capacity, which enables the public to carry out actual activities related to each of the 3Rs aspects. As a result, such behaviors become inputs for the progress or "performance" of the 3Rs for a healthy material-cycle society. Through their policies, practices, and activities, central and local governments, environmental NGOs, companies, the media, and others all affect public awareness, resulting in "community empowerment."
By signing this petition, YOU can make a change, create an impact, and save the environment. We encourage everyone to support and protect the world by participating in creating a solution for this issue. In this way, we can help our environment to prevent a life taking disaster now and for a bright world for our future.
